GHOST TOWN HUNTING IN SASKATCHEWAN: READY, AIM…
Ghost town hunting is a relatively new trend in tourism.
Between the seductive, strikingly photogenic ruins and the extremely soothing, restorative hours spent roaming a picturesque Saskatchewan countryside, it’s easy to see why it’s gaining ground.
RUN THE JEWELS ON THE RISE
Run The Jewels’ self-titled debut made a fearsome run at the throne in 2013, but the project’s masterminds, MCs Killer Mike and EL-P, are anything but strangers to the game. Over smooth, nod-your-head, old-school 808 beats, the duo traded verses with conviction and ease on the stage at Adelaide Hall, dropping knowledge and the occasional pummeling bassline on an enthusiastic, mesmerized crowd.
Tennyson is hella impressive
Coasting in from Edmonton on a chillwave of fluffy clouds and even fluffier sheep, Tennyson is altogether dreamy.
The pair of 17 year olds gave a slow and steady NXNE showcase this weekend – synths and sample triggers abound, atop four-to-the-floor urban beats.

Lion & Bright is local and just right
This bright airy space offers up exceptional food that you won’t stop raving about to your friends.
Local is the name of the game on Lion & Bright’s menu, and whether you’re just a little peckish or in full-on beast hunger mode, you won’t be disappointed as there are sweet treats and light bites as well as heftier items.
Perfect East Coast Vintage
Anya Nordeen scours Nova Scotia to find perfect vintage pieces to stock the carefully arranged racks in this small but perfectly formed vintage store that doubles as both gallery space with a monthly art show and live music venue on occasion.
40 Years of Hip-Hop Show
You’ve got about a week left to get over to The Gladstone and see this celebratory exhibit, part of the CONTACT Photography Festival.
You might’ve already missed the big opening night (that soundscape was one to remember), but don’t sleep on this visual journey through #40years.
The neighbourhood is piecemeal, and this place is anything but.
There’s not excessive inventory here — rather, they’ve got lots of military pieces (as of this writing, anyway) available for standout home decor.
Indoor streetfood eats in Toronto are essential.
Otherwise you’d be standing on Ossington freezing and wobbly outside with your mates.
New Bear Flag Green Room @ Lee’s Palace
We combined a heavy dose of mod furniture with practical utility to put a 12×12’ lounge together for bands to relax and enjoy a glass or three of Bear Flag before showtime at Lee’s through November.
In particular, the standout elements have a handcrafted look for our one-of-a-kind Bear Flag Fest Green Room.

Do Keith Morris and his gang of grown-a** punk heroes still have the goods?

Week #1 Begins
This Wednesday, as part of Canadian Music Week [CMW], Bear Flag Wine announces Bear Flag Fest, a national music tour that supports indie bands, popular nightlife venues, and national music events; bringing together great tasting wine, music and culture.
If you’re in town for CMW, or just happen to be in the West before heading to an early show, check out the Cosmos West at 652 Queen (at Palmerston).
Most vinyl aficionados know of the original Cosmos, but at Cosmos West they’ve got a nice selection of Jazz, Latin (Cuban & Brasilian, namely) sounds.
